THE WHITE SWAN AWARD, for excellence in education, is inspired from the magnificient white swan – on which the Hindu Goddess of knowledge, ‘Saraswati’ traverses across the universe. In Hinduism, the swan is a symbol of knowledge and wisdom. It thus becomes an apt motif for an honour meant for eminent educators.
